Vitamin C (Ascorbinsäure) ist ein wasserlösliches Vitamin, das der menschliche Körper nicht selbst synthetisieren kann und täglich über die Ernährung oder Supplementierung aufnehmen muss. Überschüssiges Vitamin C wird über den Urin ausgeschieden – eine einmalige höhere Dosis kann daher sinnvoll für Personen mit erhöhtem Bedarf sein. Bioflavonoide sind sekundäre Pflanzenstoffe, die zusammen mit Vitamin C in natürlichen Quellen wie Zitrusfrüchten vorkommen. Hagebutte und Holunderblüte sind klassische Quellen für natürliches Vitamin C in der Phytotherapie. Für Bioflavonoide, Hagebutte und Holunderblüte sind keine EFSA Health Claims zugelassen.
