Er verliebte sich in die Weinherstellung während er auf einer Reise nach Florenz war. Später arbeitete er für das legendäre Robert Mondavi Weingut bevor er sich selbstständig machte. Sein Weingut ist nach dem zweiten Vornamen seines Vaters, Orin, und nach dem Mädchennamen seiner Mutter, Swift, benannt. Diese ungewöhnliche Flasche ist typisch für Davids ungewöhnlichen Stil. Ersonnen als hommage an Kalifornien, ist der Wein eine Zinfandel-basierte Mischung mit etwas Syrah und Petit Sirah um ihm mehr Komplexität zu verleihen. Nach dem Gärungsprozess wird der junge Wein in französischen Eichenfässern für 8 Monate gelagert bevor er zur Abfüllung bereit erklärt wird. Verführerische süße Früchte springen sofort aus dem Glas, darunter verlockende Johannisbeere, schwarze Kirsche und reife dunkle Pflaume. Es finden sich dunklere Untertöne von Waldboden, Zeder Holz und sanfte Gewürze von der Eiche. Auf dem Gaumen findet sich ein robuster, voller Körper, kräftige Tannine und ein verlockender Kern an dunkler Frucht, welche auf der Zunge verweilt. Ein guter Partner zu herzhaften Gerichten aus rotem Fleisch oder zur weiteren Lagerung im Keller für einige Jahre, um die kräftigen Tannine abzurunden.Shipping Notes
