Seine Geschichte ist lang und gezeichnet durch stetige Weiterentwicklungen, beispielsweise kamen diverse Ausbautechniken zum Einsatz: Kastanienfässer zwischen 1970 und 1987, Eichenfässer aus Slawonien bis 1992 und anschließend französische Tonneaux und Barriques.
