"This record was written mostly in the summer of 2016 in my apartment off of Trinity Lane. A few tunes came out on the road as well. After moving out of an ex's house, I settled into a new neighborhood down the road. Shortly after, I picked up a tour with my good friend John Moreland where we went to the West Coast and back. I was trailing them in my little 2002 Honda Accord that has literally been all over the country with me. A woman in my early 30s, I found myself sick of my same old shit. I was inspired by the landscape of the west. My faith was tested on the curves of the Highway 101 through the Red Woods. I got terrifyingly stoned on weed gummy bears in Denver. I saw real cowboys in Wyoming and drove through a flood in Arkansas. I felt displaced, but connected. Upon returning to the south, my home of Tennessee, I slunk back into my nook off of Trinity. I went over all the things I'd seen. There had been a freedom in being so far away - a lack of responsibility, a distance from some of the issues, if you will, though I'd carried them right with me, back to my birthplace of Los Angeles, peering over the ocean, wondering how you can come so far yet end up in the same place. I contemplated fleeing and just staying in California, but the south is my home and I had to deal with what needed to be dealt with. I started to write. And go to the park. And listen to records. And play my guitar every night. Every time I wanted a man, I picked up my guitar. Every time I wanted a drink, I picked up my guitar. Love will take you to the darkest places but also to the most honest places if you let it. Learning how to love myself is something I've always been lousy with, and I spent some time on that. I thought about my sobriety, what that means to me, the struggles I'd had throughout the years, since I was a 27-year-old and hung up my toxic drinking habit. I thought about my mother, who took her own life when I was a baby, not far from my age at 30 years old, and I related to her more than ever. As you can see, there was plenty of time spent on my own. I didn't talk to that many folks, albeit a few close friends, and leaned into my family. I stayed away from men, and danced alone in the evenings, looking out my window observing my humble and lively neighborhood. I found power in being by myself. I found peace in the people I was surrounded with - we didn't really know one another, but we smiled when passed on the street. One time I almost rear-ended an older woman in her car backing out of my driveway and I said, "Oh man, I'm just not used to any cars coming around this bend." She replied, "This is our little hideout, baby.” And it really was. The woods were behind me, Dickerson Pike was in the front. So after a while, I had all these songs to play, and wanted to share them. I wanted to get out of town to get some distance from everything, so after an ongoing conversation with Michael Trent, I took my band to Johns Island, SC and we holed up for a few weeks. I poured my heart out, and trusted them with it, and these guys gave it right back. I think we all understood what it's like to question home, intention, demons, love....I think most people understand that. I hope you love this record, I made it for you."

Super cute clutch!
Color: Natural
This is a beautiful clutch. I got the “Natural” color, and the tones are definitely subtle. I am already eyeing the Spicy one too, but for me, the natural color is just easier to match with outfits. I did laugh though because my nephew said it looks like a taco, but honestly that just makes me love it even more! The material is extremely nice, it feels very premium and well made. I was a bit nervous because I have had cheaper bags with that shredded-style material that flakes and falls apart, but that is not the case here. It feels really well made. I cannot speak for long-term durability yet, but so far there is no shedding or anything like that. I also did not notice any loose stitching or threads at all, it just feels like a high-quality bag. It has small magnets to keep it closed, which work nicely. There is not a ton of space since it is a clutch, but there is still enough room for my phone and a few small items, so it works well. Overall, it is just a really gorgeous, well made bag, and I really do not have anything to complain about.

Lily Clutch - awkward size and fabric.
Color: Spicy, Color: Spicy
The Sam Edelman Lily Clutch handbag is a bit awkward, in my opinion. I've been told that it looks like a taco and like a folded up rug, and it does look rather awkward. It's also much larger and bulkier than I was expecting. I can't even find a comfortable or natural way to hold it. I don't love how it bulges out on the sides or the way it's difficult to grip because of the fabric design. It's eye catching and a good conversation piece, but it feels impractical. It's more of a statement piece than a useful every day bag or something I'd want to take on a long outing. It looks interesting, but it isn't a bag that makes my life easier or more compact.

Great boho clutch with lots of interest and texture, but bag itself is small, materials are fragile
Color: Spicy, Color: Spicy
This Sam Edelman Lily Clutch Handbag would be great for a beach vacation or summer getaway. It is very lightweight and almost has a fan-like appearance making it perfect for a hot Summer evening out. I ordered the 'spicy' red and natural color combo, and it looks just like in the product photos. The purse itself excluding the raffia fringe is pretty small and thin, and it does feel a bit fragile. You might be able to fit your phone, a card holder, and a lipstick in there, but that is about it. It is not lined on the inside so it is a touch see through. The magnetic closure is a nice touch and works well, and there is a brown faux leather logo on the outside. It also comes with a dustbag to store it in, which you will want to use since the raffia will easily collect dust and break off easily over time. I do understand that this is a name brand premium item, but it does feel a bit pricey given the overall quality of the materials. I would recommend this if it went on sale at a significant discount.

I think it's large for a clutch,but it's beautiful!
Color: Natural
I ordered this purse because I just love how different and fun it is. I thought it would be great for a sunny vacation. The first thing I noticed when it arrived was that it's much bigger than I thought it would be. The size is mostly in the raffia design. The purse itself is clutch-size, able to hold your phone, credit cards, and some lip gloss. Due to the size of the whole purse, I think it could use an optional strap. The quality and the craftsmanship are top-notch, however. The raffia is amazing, and the colors are very similar to a grass skirt, making it perfect for a tropical vacation or Polynesian-themed get-together.

Taco Purse
Color: Spicy
This might be the silliest bag my wife and I own, but it's definitely unique. I call it "the taco bag," and that's 100000% what it looks like to me. It's a clutch so it's not practical for every day use if you want to keep your hands free, but it has a fun, summery vibe that makes me think my wife would look great in a sundress at a pool party carrying this. Maybe. I honestly am not sure what kind of outfit this bag goes with, but it is exactly as pictured and it feels very well made, which I have come to expect from Sam Edelman. We have several bags by them and they are all lovely, this is the weirdest one and the hardest to figure out where we're going to use it, but I'm not mad I have it and if you like the taco look it lives up to it in person.
