Finacea Description
Finacea gel is a treatment for skin conditions.
It contains azelaic acid, which eliminates the bacteria on your skin.
It's typically used twice daily, and you should start noticing an improvement in symptoms within four weeks.

What is Finacea Gel?

Finacea Gel is used to treat acne and rosacea by applying it directly to your skin. It reduces the inflammation that leads to spots or redness. Additionally, it helps with hyperpigmentation and melasma, helping your skin look normal again.

Finacea Gel is considered an 'off-label' treatment for hyperpigmentation and melasma, meaning it's not officially approved for these conditions. However, we know it's effective and safe to use. A clinician will need to ensure it's suitable for you.

How does Finacea Gel work?

Finacea Gel contains 15% azelaic acid as its active ingredient. Azelaic acid is a type of medication known as a dicarboxylic acid. It has antibacterial properties, making it effective for treating bacterial acne. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory effects, which can be beneficial for conditions such as acne, rosacea, and melasma.

The azelaic acid in Finacea Gel can also lighten skin by causing hypopigmentation. It works by attaching to an enzyme called tyrosinase and reducing its activity. This makes it useful for treating melasma and other types of hyperpigmentation. So, if you're dealing with these conditions, Finacea Gel might be beneficial for you.

What doses of Finacea Gel are there?

It is available in just one strength, a gel containing 15% azelaic acid. Typically, you'll apply it twice daily to the affected areas of your skin. Generally, 0.5g of gel, or roughly an inch, is sufficient to cover your entire face.

If this amount isn't effectively reducing your acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, or melasma, have a chat with your clinician. You might need to use it more frequently, or perhaps a different treatment would suit you better. Be sure to continue using it for as long as your clinician advises to notice an improvement.

How long does Finacea Gel take to work?

The length of time you'll use Finacea Gel depends on your symptoms and what you're treating. Azelaic acid medications like Finacea Gel are often used for the long term, typically over a few months. If you're treating acne, you should notice a significant improvement within four weeks. If there's no improvement after this period, it's best to stop using Finacea Gel and consider another treatment. For rosacea, your skin usually looks much better after four weeks. However, if there's no change after two months, it's time to try a different medication. When it comes to hyperpigmentation and melasma, a clinician will advise you on how long to use Finacea Gel. Since it's used off-label for these conditions, a clinician will need to tailor the treatment plan specifically for you.

What should I do if I make a mistake while using Finacea Gel?

Be careful not to get Finacea Gel in your nose, eyes, or mouth. If it does happen, rinse it out thoroughly with clean water. If you notice any symptoms, seek medical advice. Using too much Finacea Gel generally shouldn't cause issues. Simply wipe off any extra gel and consult a clinician if you have concerns. If you forget to apply Finacea Gel, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. If you have any questions and ordered Finacea Gel from us, you can log into your account and send a message to one of our clinicians.

How is Finacea Gel different from other treatments for acne and rosacea?

Finacea Gel stands out from over-the-counter acne treatments because it addresses the underlying causes of acne, such as inflammation and bacteria. This makes it more effective than creams and gels you can purchase without a prescription.

If you have hormonal acne, combined contraceptive pills such as Dianette are typically suggested instead of treatments for bacterial acne like Finacea Gel. Unlike many rosacea medications, Finacea Gel isn't an antibiotic. Therefore, if you're sensitive to antibiotics, Finacea Gel is often a suitable option.

Is Finacea Gel similar to any other treatments?

Skinoren Cream is another option for treating acne and also contains azelaic acid. It works in a very similar way, but Skinoren Cream has 20% azelaic acid, compared to 15% in some other treatments. Since Skinoren is a cream and not a gel, you might find that one suits you better than the other.

Skinoren isn't effective for rosacea, hyperpigmentation, or melasma. If you're dealing with any of these conditions, Finacea Gel would be a better option for you than Skinoren. You can also opt for a generic 15% azelaic acid, which works similarly to Finacea Gel since they share the same active ingredient. The generic version is usually more affordable and comes in different packaging.

How effective is Finacea Gel?

Finacea Gel is effective for various skin conditions. When it comes to acne, it's been found to work just as well as tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin, and tetracycline tablets. Plus, it tends to cause fewer side effects compared to traditional acne treatments.

When used for Rosacea, Finacea Gel showed notable improvements, with the benefits increasing over time. A review of various clinical studies confirmed it was safe and effective, with no long-term or serious side effects.

For melasma, Finacea Gel was just as effective as hydroquinone, and there weren't any major side effects.

Do I need a prescription for Finacea Gel?

Yes, you'll need a prescription for Finacea Gel. It's a potent topical medication, so a qualified healthcare professional must ensure it's suitable for you. If you have hyperpigmentation or melasma, they'll need to confirm it's the best choice, as it's used off-label for these conditions.

Feel so clean!
Size: 5.3 Ounce (Pack of 4)
The packaging is amazing, each bar has it's own unique odor. I was stuck on another companies product for nearly 2 years and I can see me purchasing this product again.

Quality Men’s Soap
Size: 5.3 Ounce (Pack of 4)
I purchased this bar soap for my three grandsons and my granddaughter’s boyfriend. They are all in their 20s and liked the fact that the soap lasted longer than the soaps they usually use. I did give them each a different scent and they appreciated the fact that the scent was not overwhelming, but subtle. Generally speaking, young men this age usually do not purchase quality soap or personal hygiene items mainly because of cost. They all were very pleased with the surprise gift and proceeded to use it immediately. I would compare it to the expensive Dr. Squatch bar soaps. I bought these on sale and felt like I had gotten a very good deal. It is a pleasure to give someone a gift that they normally would not purchase themselves. I will continue to shop this website for future purchases and wholeheartedly recommend Rinse and Robust Men’s Bar Soap.

Smooth Bars are nice, Scrub Bars Too Rough
Size: 5.3 Ounce (Pack of 4)
Not bad soap. The scents aren't overbearing, but the "Scrub" style bars.... I have very little use for other than the bottoms of my feet. They are extremely rough and not for use directly on the skin. I've other "scrub" bars in the past that I could use almost all over the body but these are like lava rocks.

Great Scents
Size: 5.3 Ounce (Pack of 4)
Each of the 4 bars smells fantastic. To this point, I have only used one of the exfoliating bars, but it feels great on the skin and does not leave any residue. Also works great on my beard.
