Handcrafted in Sweden, Auris Stir Xylophone Drums—often called stir drums—combine motion and melody in a uniquely engaging way. As children stir the included mallet around the inside of the drum, the wooden sound tongue responds with soft, rhythmic tones that feel both playful and grounding. This makes them especially beloved in Waldorf-inspired preschools, kindergartens, and early primary classrooms.

With or Without a Thumb Grip
Stir Xylophone Drums are available with or without a thumb grip hole. The grip hole offers younger children added stability while holding the drum, while the version without a hole allows for additional exploratory play, such as gently rolling natural objects inside. The choice is simply a matter of age, preference, and intended use.
Three Melodic Patterns
Each stir drum is tuned with one of three internal sound patterns, creating a different musical experience as the mallet moves:
- Classic – tones rise or fall depending on stirring direction
- Wave – tones rise and fall in either direction
- Melody – tones follow a playful, hopping pattern
Individual drums are available in each pattern, and a set of six includes all three melodies with and without thumb grips.
