Derived from 100 certified organic fruit from two sites, Raupo Vineyard in the Omaka Valley and Noa Vineyard at the Western end of the Wairau Valley.
2018 will be remembered as being rather unusual for Marlborough, with a run of wet conditions following a period of warm weather. Fortunately our vineyards all fared well, with low yields and careful management ensuring a large proportion was harvested by the end of March Above all, we will remember this vintage for its fast and furious nature blink and you nearly missed it However the resulting wines are showing a great deal of poise, elegance and subtlety. The winemaking team are beyond excited to nurture them into the bottle and bring them to market.
Certified organic grapes were harvested by hand and machine, then pressed, chilled and settled for 48 hours The bright juice was then carefully racked into a variety of stainless steel vessels to begin fermentation, then a potion was transferred to old, neutral barrels The juice was largely inoculated with specialist yeast, Alba Fria A small proportion was left to ferment naturally, to help build texture and natural balance into the wine An extremely long fermentation proceeded, up to 8 weeks, then the stainless steel portion was racked to barrel on lees After a period of 6 months, the wine was blended, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.
‘Offspring’ in Maori, Momo reflects its heritage as part of the Seresin family. A vibrant range of wines, fermented naturally with wild yeasts. The wines are true to variety and reflect the essence of their fruit characters.
