Llilaea is our line of hand-turned supported spindles and spinning bowls. These supported spinning sets are great for spinning short stapled fibers like cotton, guanaco, yak, etc. Supported spindles are used to create a woolen or semi-woolen yarn using a long draw or supported long draw draft method and woolen fiber preparations like rolags, batts and roving.

Each spindle and spinning bowl is unique and hand crafted with extreme care and attention to detail. This set is hand-turned from cherry wood with a maple shaft on the spindle. The supported spindle features a brass tip and the center of the bowl has a brass dimple to help keep your spindle from "walking" around the bowl as you spin.

All our wooden spinning tools are made with locally-sourced wood from a nearby mill.

All wooden surfaces are sanded silky smooth and finished with a beeswax and orange oil wood finishing product. The resin inlay is finished with a non-toxic polishing compound. This supported spindle and spinning bowl can last a lifetime!

All supported spindle and spinning bowl sets are packed with care and sent in a sturdy cardboard box to prevent damage. This item may be shipped separately from any additional purchases due to special handling.
