The Saskatchewan Mental Hospital at Weyburn has played a significant role in the history of psychiatric services, mental health research, and providing care in the community. Its history provides a window to the changing nature of mental health services over the 20th century. Built in 1921, Saskatchewan Mental Hospital was considered the last asylum in North America and the largest facility of its kind in the British Commonwealth. A decade later the Canadian Committee for Mental Hygiene cited it as one of the worst facilities in the country, largely due to extreme overcrowding. In the 1950s the Saskatchewan Mental Hospital again attracted international attention for engaging in controversial therapeutic interventions, including treatments using LSD. In the 1960s, sweeping healthcare reforms took hold in the province and mental health institutions underwent dramatic changes as they began transferring patients into communities. As the patient and staff population shrunk, the once palatial building fell into disrepair, the asylum's expansive farmland went out of cultivation, and mental health services folded into a complicated web of social and correctional services. Erika Dyck's Managing Madness examines an institution that housed people we struggle to understand, help, or even try to change.--Ian Dowbiggin "Bulletin of the History of Medicine"

perfect size
purchased for entertaining when I need convenience and quantity. good for larger gatherings- they look good, hold a lot of food without leaking. Strong enough to carry loaded with food without sagging, thick enough to cut meat and not cut through the plate. Can warm up food in microwave and not worry. After the party just toss in the garbage for easy clean up. I will continue to buy these plates.

Nice Platters for family Thanksgiving take out
The family used these to take some Thanksgiving food home. These paper platters are sturdy and hold food without bending or leaking. I like the size because it works well for bigger meals or when I don’t feel like washing dishes. They make serving and cleanup quick and simple.

Perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas
These platters are sturdy and just the right size if you’re having a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and don’t want to deal with a bunch of dishes. My family use them for the first time this year and we were absolutely delighted. The platters are sturdy, high-quality, significantly larger than the 10 inch paper plates and hold a large amount of food which is essential when you’re serving a large meal.

Perfect for every occasion. Absolutely love this brand.
We always buy disposable tableware from Dixie, and these platters are another great product from the brand. The size is perfect for barbecue food, burgers, ribs, sides, everything fits easily. They’re sturdy, don’t bend or leak, and hold up well even with heavier food. We host BBQs often and these make serving and cleanup super easy. Reliable quality and definitely worth buying again.
