Russell is an internationally renowned Pop artist whose works are collected by prominent figures including President Obama, Brad Pitt, David Bowie, and the Royal Family of Qatar. He began his career in photography, gaining recognition with George Michael’s Faith album cover, before photographing celebrities such as Björk, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and REM. Drawing from press clippings, personal contributions from celebrities, and arrest photos, Russell transforms familiar images with new color, texture, and perspective, often revealing stars in moments of extreme simplicity or vulnerability.

In 2003, his first major exhibition, Pig Portraits, marked his transition into painting and was met with immediate acclaim.
