The debut LP by this Western Mass duo is a masterpiece of fractured air. The two performers are Andy Allen (from the original line-up of Guerilla Toss, among many other places) and Mia Friedman (whose collaborations apart from this include Lichen and appearances with Lauri McNamara's Carbuncles). Previously issued as a cassette, Hobson's Choice is a blend of traditional and experimental approaches that alternately puts us in mind of several units inhabiting the landscape of Strange Maine over the last decade, and the animated '30s cartoons of Max Fleischer. And Hollow Deck have a unique way of quivering between their two main style poles guaranteed to put hair on anyone's chest. From it's first song, the album is a bridge between beauty (as personified by Mia's singing voice) and odd instrumental work that moves from clutter to clack to clam in the space of a blink. A few of the tracks are so sweetly arranged - rural voice and flute gliding above warm fields - that it almost feels like insanity is on the wind when the musical proceedings turn dark and unruly. But, as in life, they always do eventually, if only for the nonce. Before you know it, the scene turns into a nursery room theatrical with mice in white gloves capering while the cat naps. Other gorgeous bits recall Joanne Robertson at her most elegiac, singing along to a broken record. Then flutes join the fun, as though representing a pack of wolves mourning the death of the moon. Hobson's Choice is filled with many other such seemingly contradictory juxtapositions. Letting them flow through your head will free you - if only for a moment - from the world around us, delivering you somewhere new before snatching you back to reality. Nice looking but bad quality and defects

Shelves look nice, but not great quality and one of my shelves came crooked (installed it perfectly level). Also has defects around the edges. Already installed so don’t want to rip off wall and return, but would like if they sent a couple new replacements at no charge. Keep you posted if that happens.

This floating shelf looks great and feels very sturdy once installed. It’s stable, fits securely on the wall, and holds plenty of items without issue. I measured beforehand, and it fits perfectly in the space I needed. The hardware was included, and assembly was quick and easy—I had it up in just a couple of minutes. The quality is excellent, and the clean design adds a nice touch to the room. Highly recommend!

It’s meh

Instructions are different than what comes. It’s hard to level and because there isn’t as many mounting points as the instructions it’s more flimsy than you’d think. Still works but can take some finessing to get it to be sturdy enough depending on what you’re planning on putting on it. Looks good and like the pictures though.

Light weight but solid floating shelf

Having looked around at brick and mortar stores around me locally I had a really hard to find one that was long enough to fit my wall.
Glad I was able to find the Balucci floating shelf 48'. As a collector or toys and memorabilia from my travels I wanted something in my room that could hold a substantial amount of small toys and items. Installing was very easy pretty much securing the base with the hardware provided. And securing the base to the shelf itself.
I'm very happy with the quality and also the strength of the shelf. Even with a good tug it was very tight. Maybe some longer screws would be more secure but I think the ones provided were good enough.

Solid Floating Shelves 🛠️🏠

I have installed four sets of the black floating shelves in my office. They are made of high quality materials, featuring a sophisticated black woodgrain finish with a natural texture. Supposedly, each unit can handle up to 22 pounds, though I would not recommend testing that limit with your vintage bowling ball collection if you value your flooring. They are awesome.
The value is good for a set of two. Each shelf measures 22x7x1 (56x17x3 cm) inches, providing a decent amount of storage for books or decor. The installation was straightforward since the hardware for multiple wall types was included. They work well in the kitchen for spices or in the bedroom for personal belongings.
One tip for a secure fit: use a level during installation and make sure the bracket is flush against the wall before sliding the shelf on, or your photos might look like they are sliding off a mountain 📐
These shelves offer a clean, modern look and stay stable once mounted correctly. They are a practical choice for adding functional display space to any room 🖼️
