Harry Lee Cowles, a small but exceedingly quick and racquet-sports-talented product of English parents who had grown up in Newport, Rhode Island, where as a youngster he was taught all the racquet sports --- namely court tennis, squash racquets, squash tennis, lawn tennis and rackets --- at the famed Newport Casino (home of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum) by its legendary English-born head pro Tom Pettitt. The latter, who had held the world championship throughout the period from 1885 - 90 in court tennis, his favorite sport, imbued in his young protégé an appreciation for the degree of cross-fertilization that exists among all the racquet games, especially those in which walls are involved. As one example, the heavy slice routinely utilized in stroking a court tennis ball (in order to cause the ball to drop straight down when it hits the back wall, making
it difficult to return) is very helpful as well in making a squash ball die. It is also useful in deception, allowing the player to swing in one direction yet allow the ball to slide off in a quite different direction.

Cowles is perhaps known best for both the number of U. S. Nationals champions he produced --- his total of seven (Myles Baker ’22, W. Palmer Dixon ’25, Herb Rawlins ’27, Larry Pool ’28, his younger brother Beekman Pool ’32, Willing Patterson ’32 and Germain G. Glidden ’36) far exceeds that of any other coach --- and for the variety of their styles. This latter phenomenon is a testament to Cowles’s ability to make a total assessment of a given player and intuit how that particular player, with his particular temperament, physique, racquet skills, mental assets, potentialities and limitations, could maximize his game. Cowles was able to think originally and to analyze the most subtle situation with the patience, persistence, clarity, understanding and imagination that characterizes all great teachers. It is a telling expression if Cowles’s philosophy in this regard that when he wrote his book “The Art Of Squash Racquets,” published in 1935, the summarizing chapter is entitled “The Best Game: Every Man To His Talent.”

Read all of his books, you won't be dissapointed.
Format: Paperback
I love Dr. Heiser books, but I wanted to step back from the spiritual realm and reconnect with scripture again. This book is light, easy to read, and like all his content, so eye opening. I am alway slapping myself in the forehead and wondering how I didn't know or notice things. "I Dare You Not to Bore Me With the Bible" is another of his books that I'm reading simultaneously. If you want to go deeper in Bible Study, this is the book. It's helped me forgive a lot of the Bible "hangups" I have that were very cultural or significant for reasons I missed. Get those 2 books (this and the one I mention above), and then when you're ready to really have your understanding of G-d and the Bible blown out of the water, move on to Unseen Realm, Reversing Hermon, Supernatural, and all of the others. If you desire to understand the Bible, and not just show up on Sunday, read everything by Dr. Michael Heiser, his website is a great resource too. So grateful for the work he does.

Excellent tool for gospel workers!
Format: Kindle
For those of us who want to contextualize the gospel in pagan contexts, Dr. Michael S. Heiser helps us get beyond our own cultural context to the ancient cultural context of the Bible itself. One could spend years and years researching the ancient contexts of the Bible, but for workers with families and careers other than Dr. Heiser's, the time needed would far exeed what is practical. Thankfully, there is a solution: Dr. Heiser has done a lot of the distilling needed to grasp the basic cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the Bible writers. After presenting the Unseen Realm, Reversing Hermon and I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible, he has done one better here in the Bible Unfiltered. Why do I say better? Well, I would say that as time has gone on, Dr. Heiser's ability to communicate complex topics for the average layman has improved markedly. Get this book, let it whet your appetite, and then please do get Unseen Realm and Reversing Hermon. They will help you to understand the Bible, contextualize the gospel, and offer an entrance to a fantastic intellectual and spiritual journey of a lifetime.

Practical, elegant, and very functional.
Size: Paper Towel Holder - Standard Design
I absolutely loved this paper towel holder. It features a modern stainless steel design that looks beautiful in the kitchen and matches everything. The base is quite heavy, so it doesn't slide around or tip over when you tear off a sheet—which is incredibly important. The addition of the spray bottle is an excellent bonus. It’s perfect for keeping water, vinegar, or a cleaning solution close at hand, allowing you to do a quick cleanup while you’re cooking or wiping down the countertops. Plus, it’s easy to refill and use. Another feature I appreciated is the side arm, which helps keep the roll in place and prevents it from unraveling on its own. It is well-made and durable. Overall, it is a very practical product that saves space and makes things much more convenient in the kitchen.
