Description

THE TEXT-BOOK of JU-JUTSU as practised in Japan (Collector's Edition)Mystery and intrigue surrounds much of the life of the founder and practitioner of Ju Jutsu, the self styled professor, S. K. (Sada Kazu) Uyenishi. However, he was one of the first and probably the most influential jujitsu and judo experts to demonstrate, teach and compete in these arts outside of Japan. From the shadowy Baritsu exponents in the stories of Sherlock Holmes, to Inspector Clouseaus sidekick Cato of Pink Panther notoriety and James Bonds

Mystery and intrigue surrounds much of the life of the founder and practitioner of Ju-Jutsu, the self-styled ÒprofessorÓ, S. K. (Sada Kazu) Uyenishi. However, he was one of the first and probably the most influential jujitsu and judo experts to demonstrate, teach and compete in these arts outside of Japan. From the shadowy ÒBaritsuÓ exponents in the stories of Sherlock Holmes, to Inspector ClouseauÕs sidekick Cato of Pink Panther notoriety and James BondÕs Odd Job, he of the stage name ÒRakuÓ has provided the entertainment industry with many stereotypes. Sada Kazu Uyenishi even influenced the seeming erratic, yet expertly controlled, screen pranks of the masterful Charlie Chaplin; but who was S. K. Uyenishi in real life? Find out more about him and his uniquely 'soft' style of Ju-jutsu, from reading this authentic presentation of his book.

Excellent book
Format: Paperback
My grandson is seven and he does not like to read but with these books he is eager to read and find out what is happening in the next chapter. These books are more on the comic book format and they are really fun to read. I like them almost as much as my grandson.

2nd grade son's favorite book of all time!
Format: Paperback
So this is not classic children's literature with beautifully written passages a la The Velveteen Rabbit. This IS, however, the only book my 7 year old son has read repeatedly (6 times?) and BEGGED me to buy so that we would have our own copy when it was time to return it to the library. Santa brought him 3 gifts this year- a Cozmo robot, a drone, and this book- they were all displayed together. Guess which one elicited the first scream? "Sparks!!! Santa brought me Sparks!!!" This comic book is not Shakespeare for children but the story is creative and FUNNY, the illustrations are great, and boy does it keep my kids' attention (my 4th grade daughter also loves it, though not to the obsessive extent of my boy). Get it- your child will love it. This is not a book for YOU to read aloud- this is for the child to read on his/her own. So when The Wind in the Willows has them yawning, hand them this instead.
