A sort of a travel guide to the Medieval Baltic, circa 1456. This book is essentially an encyclopedia of a specific part of Central Europe in the Mid-15th Century., This is Volume 1 of 2.

This book will take the reader into the misty primordial forests of pagan Lithuania, at a time when the Northern Crusades are still taking place with raids by the Teutonic Knights and counter-raids by the Lithuanians. The great Free Cities of Prussia, led by Danzig, are in the middle of a revolution against the Teutonic Order, and have formed an alliance with Poland. Their cities are self-administered, with a government under a charter originating in LŸbeck, shared between dozens of other walled cities around Central and Northern Europe, including the nominal Polish capital, Krak—w.

The Kingdom of Poland operates here as a nobles Republic, a Commonwealth in which every member of the very large nobility, up to 1/5th of the population, has a vote and a veto. Their King is from a Lithuanian family, and his parents were pagans, who burned their enemies alive as sacrifices to the forest gods. King Casimir IV Jagiellon is however a prudent and wise leader, who governs by consensus, walking a fine line between the many competing interests in his vast land.

Surrounding them are to the East the Golden and Crimean hordes of the Mongols, the ancient Russian City State of Novgorod, and the Mongol controlled but increasingly powerful Russian state of Muscovy. To their West Pomerania, led by the Griffin Dukes, and the Mark of Brandenburg, led by the ruthless noble, Frederick II "The Iron", the prince elector of Brandenburg. To the south, behind a ring of mountains, lay the heretic Kingdom of Bohemia, whose war-wagons had broken 5 Crusades, and whose Czech heretics fight as mercenaries on both sides of wars in Poland and Prussia. Further to the East, another rebellious community, the Zaporozhian Sich of the Cossacks, are runaway slaves become bandits. These skilled warriors were wild raiders who managed to be a thorn in the side of the Ottomans and the Mongols.

Codex Guide to the Medieval Baltic will take you into this world, and will show you the military, economic, and political organization of Central Europe in 1456. If you want to know what it was really like, this is your ticket to a land that is nothing like what you thought the middle ages were all about, and is far more interesting, nuanced and engaging than any fantasy genre you've ever explored.

Effective but may be uncomfortable
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Medium/Large(fits size 8 to 11)
I have eczema on my feet and use a prescription cream that I leave on overnight. I often have a problem sleeping in socks but the silicone feels cool on my feet. The only drawback I have is the opening of the socks feel very tight around my ankles making them uncomfortable on me. I wish the opening was a bit more flexible.

Burned my already sensitive feet, too big
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Medium/Large(fits size 8 to 11)
Feels icky, and the heat gets trapped and literally felt like my feet were being burned by these. The bottoms of these feel prickly and they are way too big. You have to sit still and cannot walk in them.

Just as good as paraffin wax
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Medium/Large(fits size 8 to 11)
I might prefer these socks over paraffin wax. They are comfy and very moisturizing. I use these socks once a week to keep the heels and soles of my feet moisturized between pedicures. I rinse with warm, soapy water then hang to dry. They are hard to walk in, but there's a saying printed in the socks that's says something to the effect of "take a break, stay off your feet" lol I love that as a reminder to put my feet up and relax

Love these!
Color: Pink & Beige, Size: Small(fits up to size 7)
Love these! As I write this review, I’m sitting in my recliner with these on. I have had other silicone socks in the past and would like to share a few of the things that I have learned. These fit great! The others were 2-3 sizes too big because you could not order a size. I wear a size 7 women’s shoe. I got the smaller size. I walked around my apartment in my old ones and they got kinda yucky. Now, I sit in my recliner, put them on and chill for a few hours. I now take them off and put in a ziplock bag so they stay nice and clean (no cat hair!). I use them once a week usually on Saturday or Sunday as I’m a working girl. Also, I use Auqaphor before I put them on and put cotton socks on after I’m finished. Your feet will be SO soft. This is not a one and done…I do this every week especially during sandal season! I know this was lengthy and I hope you got some tips.
