The Libec BL-660A is a specialized, professional-grade elevated extension adapter designed exclusively for 100mm bowl-base tripods. It acts as a rigid, integrated height riser, allowing camera operators to safely extend their maximum lens perspective by over two feet—ideal for clearing crowds at live events, executing dramatic overhead downward angles, or raising studio setups without sacrificing the fluid-leveling capabilities of a bowl-mount system.

Core Features & Practical Utility

  • Seamless 26-Inch Height Elevation: The adapter provides a fixed vertical extension of 26 inches (66 cm). This structural boost allows you to achieve high-angle vantage points instantly, eliminating the need to stack unstable apple boxes or deploy dangerously over-extended standard tripod legs.

  • Sphere-to-Bowl Structural Continuity: The design features a native 100mm ball base at the bottom that drops seamlessly into your tripod's existing legs, while providing a precision-machined 100mm bowl receiver at the top. This layout lets you reinstall your original 100mm fluid head directly onto the elevated platform, maintaining full native leveling capabilities.

  • High-Rigidity Column Strength: Machined entirely out of a lightweight yet high-tensile industrial aluminum alloy, the column prevents rotational twisting or flexing under high payload strain. It is engineered to comfortably support heavy cinema packages and broadcast ENG configurations.

  • Extended Industrial Tie-Down: The kit features an ultra-robust, lengthened bottom tie-down knuckle assembly. Passing straight through the core of the riser tube, it clamps tightly onto the tripod's base casting, creating a solid, vibration-free platform that handles rapid pan-and-tilt inertial loads without micro-wobbles.

Operational System Tips for the BL-660A:

💡 The Footprint Leverage Rule: Elevating a heavy camera rig by 26 inches fundamentally raises its center of gravity, which drastically multiplies the tip-over leverage on your tripod. When deploying the BL-660A, always widen your tripod legs to a broader footprint than normal. If you are operating on a live venue floor, it is highly recommended to pair this setup with standard floor spreaders and anchor the base down using heavy production sandbags on each leg pad to offset the increased top-heavy sway.

  • Executing Coarse Bowl Leveling: Because the base of the BL-660A is a standard 100mm ball, you don't need to adjust individual leg heights to true your frame. Loosen the extra-long bottom tie-down knuckle slightly, swivel the entire 26-inch column until your fluid head's bubble level centers perfectly, and then firmly lock the knuckle back down before operating the camera.

Important reading for every working woman!
Format: Hardcover
Let me start by saying that this isn't a genre I am normally drawn to. I usually am a fiction reader, but a trusted friend recommended this book so highly that I felt I should give it a chance. I'm so glad I put aside my hesitation, as I really feel this is a book that every woman in the American workforce should read. It is a fascinating primer in how we got where we are, and how much effort it took to gain even our somewhat compromised equality. While the legal issues involved can be a little complex, Thomas does an excellent job of breaking them down into straightforward concepts. I also really appreciated her ability to make the whole process of moving a case up through the Court of Appeals and eventually to the Supreme Court come to life. For those of us who are not in the legal profession, this process can seem mysterious, but this book made it easy to understand. By clearly and patiently laying out the facts of each case, Thomas also gives the reader the opportunity to test their own assumptions and think through the logic of the cases for themselves. For me, it was a fascinating opportunity to weigh my assumptions about my political leanings against my intellectual analysis of the facts, and I often surprised myself. All in all, I think this is an important book, and also a surprisingly accessible and engaging one. You will feel smarter and much more informed after reading it. And if you are a woman, you may well also feel grateful for those brave women (and men) who fought and struggled to make your experience in the workplace fairer.

Like a real-life legal thriller. Especially if you're thrilled by the progress we've made.
Format: Hardcover
This book, while deeply researched and rigorous, is the opposite of legalese. Thomas's vivid, thoughtful, witty storytelling reveals the real (and courageous) people behind the cases that made employment discrimination law what it is today. It shows not just the impact of law on people, but the impact of people on law. These women's struggles (and those of the advocates at their side) are both infuriating and inspiring. (That was me on the subway yelling at the book, alternating between "WHAT THE HELL?!" and "YOU GO, IDA!") Read it on the train, read it on the beach; just read it. I have a zillion friends with spring birthdays, not to mention my mom (who came of working age during this gender-siloed Mad-Men-tastic era) and I'm buying it for every single one.

A serious read about a very relevant, non-fiction topic... not a light hearted read.
Format: Kindle
A serious non-fiction, not a leisurely novel... very detailed, lots of research went into this, and a lot to be learned from reading thru it.. an excellent education of all that leads up to our Supreme Court,... and serious relevance to the 60’s, 70’s, up to now.... for many women.

Entertaining read
Format: Kindle
I wanted to educate myself on some of the issues that are presented in this book. If you're looking for just factual case-law and supreme court decisions this is not the book you're looking for. This book presents the cases in a story and gives a lot of detail about what went on in the lives of the people involved in these lawsuits outside of the courtroom. The only thing that I wish would have been talked about in greater detail would be a more in-depth look at the opinions and reasons from the justices that were not voting in favor of the plaintiffs.
