Hamburg's Marc Richter has been busy with his Black to Comm project since his last appearance under that name on Type, 2009's genre-bending and critically acclaimed Alphabet 1968 (TYPE 053 CD). Aside from helming the prolific Dekorder imprint, he's put out a number of musical curios, including 2012's excellent film soundtrack EARTH. Now Richter is back with Alphabet 1968's proper follow-up, a self-titled double album pieced together from crumbling samples, vocal snippets, and an arsenal of noise generators and filters. Richter's material has always been characterized by an air of surrealism, but it's never been more obvious than on the pulsing, chattering opener "Human Gidrah" or in the delirious, fractured pop of "Hands." There are real songs hidden in here somewhere, but they're disintegrated by Richter's sound manipulation techniques and dissolved into soupy, extended drone marathons. The centerpiece is undoubtedly "Is Nowhere," which builds slowly over 20 minutes with rumbling organ sounds and buzzing filters, never losing the listener's attention for a second. Black to Comm is a deeper, more challenging record than it's predecessor, but one which repays the patient listener. Richter's dusty, unique sound has never sounded so well-honed and pointed, and it's a patchwork of ideas and fragments that only improves over time. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton. Very Important Message for All of Us
Format: Hardcover
Absolutely delightful, oftentimes comical look at what is a very serious situation, collection of memorable metaphors of a memoir. A real page turner. I highly recommend it. There is a subtle recognition of a spiritual nature that we are all born with. Only some of us have the courage to live out the compelling spiritual direction that we come into the world with. Parents beware!
Format: Hardcover
This books is about a trans child running away from home and it basically teaches children how to do it. Nearly a step by step example.
Then at the end of the book the author offers “resources” and advice. The first advice the author gives is “this book itself is the advice” (meaning: run away from home) and then the author lists ways a child can get around their parents. Even telling children that if they have parental control features on their phones preventing them from looking up stuff (assuming “resources” to run away) that they can go to the library, even suggesting they ride their bike to the library so their parents don’t know, to look up “resources” at the library.
My daughter was somewhat disturbed by this book. She said: “I feel like it’s trying to brainwash me into hating you! I had to remind myself of who I am like every chapter. I’m afraid for kids who don’t know better.”

Terrible blaming parent for trying to protect their child. She is committing a great moral evil. Shame on Dial Books for Young Readers for greenlighting a book with such a false, evil, and vindictive premise.
