The Hamilton Beach HealthSmart juice extractor provides an affordable way to tap into the benefits of juicing. The motor is powerful enough to munch through a bag of carrots or apples, yet not so loud that you wake the neighbors in the process. Unlike other inexpensive juicers, this extractor is well designed and easy to maintain. All of the removable parts, except the blade basket, are dishwasher-safe; the pulp filter is easy to remove and empty; and the see-through plastic cover and pulp bin let you gauge when the pulp needs to be thrown out. The juicer is compact and light, so it can be stored either on a countertop or in a cupboard. Some of the white plastic parts may stain when juicing vegetables full of nature's dyes, such as carrots or beets, but the flavor of future juices is not impaired. Manufacturer's Notice

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hamilton Beach, of Glen Allen, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 2.4 million juice extractors. The juice extractor's strainer basket and lid can break apart, posing a risk of injury to nearby consumers, who can be struck by metal or plastic. Hamilton Beach has received 35 reports in the U.S. and Canada of strainer baskets breaking apart, including four incidents where consumers required stitches after being struck by broken metal and plastic.

Manufacturer Remedy Information

The recalled juice extractors are white plastic, about 12 inches in height, and have the name "Hamilton Beach" printed on the side of the unit. The juice extractors have the following model numbers, which can be found under each unit: 67150, 67180, 67180W, 395WS, 67199 and 3920JS.
