In Hans Knappertsbusch's scant official discography, the name Richard Strauss appears only a few times, as does Johannes Brahms. The German conductor, in fact, still belonged to a generation that distrusted recordings, so today we are forced to rely on radio reports to get an idea of ​​how Knappertsbusch approached certain repertoire. It's no coincidence that we publish Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel , recorded in 1928 (but of excellent sound quality) and above all An Alpine Symphony , which is perhaps unreleased on CD, and in any case is extremely rare.
