Marc Pesnot (Domaine de la Sénéchalière) - La Folle Blanche 2019 (vitt/white) : Lightens up your glassMarc Pesnot is a strong character in the Muscadet region at the far West of the Loire valley, and his wines stand out quite a bit. Marc Pesnot is a strong character in the Muscadet region at the far West of the Loire valley, and his wines stand out quite a bit. As he says himself, he first "didn't like" Muscadet wines and was even planning to get rid of the traditional grape used in the region, the Melon de Bourgogne used to make Muscadet wines and the Folle Blanche grape used to make the -in-famous Gros Plant Nantais. However, after spending years experimenting different winemaking methods, he realized that the issue was not with the grapes but wih the increasingly industrial production methods used in the region.

Melon de Bourgogne and Folle blanche can make exquisite wines, it just requires a bit more skills and feeling for them than what many winemakers were willing to put into. Since then, Marc is producing one exciting cuvée after the other, earning a solid reputation for his wines the world over, from the US to Japan and northern Europe as well.

His "La Folle Blanche" 2019 cuvée embodies what Marc achieves to do with an often looked-down upon grape variety. La Folle Blanche is ususally seen as a hard grape to work with as it is sensitive to deseases and struggles to reach ripeness...that is if you want to harvest early to maximise your yield. Marc, however, waits as long as it takes for the grapes to be ripe even at the cost of smaller yields and make this very pretty wine featuring preserved lemons aromas out of it.

Shellfish, fish and most seafood as well as grilled chicken will be good buddies for this "crazy white lady" ("la folle blanche" in French)

All eyes on you!

I didn't love this wig straight out of the box but after trimming the wig to frame my face and brushing out the curls (I love big hair), I absolutely fell in love with this unit. I've received so many compliments. Wig does tangle but after applying product the curl pattern returns. Will definitely purchase again!

Kitty is Innocent!
**** I will not be discussing plot points or including spoilers in this review. The Killers (1946 and 1964) is a Criterion Collection ‘double feature’ consisting of both theatrical versions of Ernest Hemingway’s short story. The 1946 film is the superior one, in my opinion. Featuring an ensemble cast including Ava Gardner and Burt Lancaster, it has all of the classic ingredients of a great noir film: • well-written screenplay • memorable femme fatale • believable, shady villains • investigating a crime • hardboiled • effective flashback scenes • plot twists and turns Director Robert Siodmak meshes these attributes to perfection in one of the greatest noirs to ever hit the silver screen. Ava Gardner as Kitty Collins is icing on the cake, as her character is one of the most iconic femme fatales in noir history. She’s so dangerous! The Criterion Collection blu ray is a must-have, with both film versions in high quality, and some very neat special features. I’m so glad that they included the 1964 film on this blu ray. Sit back, relax, and enjoy The Killers in the way they were meant to be viewed!

2 for 1!
Two iterations of an Ernest Hemingway classic short story. Burt Lancaster kicks it off with the 1946 version followed by the Lee Marvin led 1964 version. Both are great and plenty of criterion extras making this among my favorite spine in their awesome collection. There’s also a Russian student take on the short story adding a third version of a great story. Highly recommended and if it’s 50% a must buy. I already owned it and gave this as a gift who instantly called me two days later with high praise of the films.
