"A Degree of Swing" will bring back many memories for those who grew up in the early 1960s and experienced the radical changes to popular culture through music and fashion.

The period 1958-64 saw radical changes to the lives of most young people and the beginnings of a culture for the young based around popular music and fashion.

Colin Miller's memories of his life as a working class student in the city of Leicester help to illustrate these changes, as well as highlighting the many personal and social challenges that confronted young men on the threshold of adulthood at that time.

This book will bring back many memories for people who grew up in the early 1960s and will help later generations to appreciate how very different personal experiences and expectations were for young men and women fifty or so years ago.

It also questions whether the supposed excesses of the 'swinging sixties' were as widespread as popular history suggests.

About the Author

Colin Miller was born on the 5 August 1940 at Rollesby, a village on the Norfolk Broads. After education at Great Yarmouth Grammar School and the Universities of Leicester and Bath, he pursued a career in teaching.

This led eventually to the post of Senior Lecturer in Mathematics in the Faculty of Education at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Following retirement in 2002, he returned with his Leicester-born wife to live once again in his native East Anglia. As well as writing, he enjoys all forms of sport and the music of the 1950s and 60s.

Fantastic Book
Format: Paperback
This book is the one of the best law school books of all time. It is easy to read, the cases are consistently and intelligently abridged, and the price is very affordable. Also, the material fits pretty much perfectly within one semester. It’s very good for those who prefer to “teach from the book,” but it also leaves room to go beyond it if you wish. If you are teaching Criminal Procedure, I cannot recommend this book enough.

The Best Supplements for Law School
Format: Paperback
These books are worth the money! I know law school books are expensive, but if you're struggling with a certain area of law, forget the price and buy Examples & Explanations. They all come with great practice essay questions and answers, as well as explain concepts in normal-people speak (unlike most law school casebooks).
