Introducing the STIHL MSA 80 C-B Battery Chainsaw – a powerful, versatile, and user-friendly tool perfect for yard maintenance and firewood cutting. Compatible with the STIHL AK system, this chainsaw operates so quietly that hearing protection is unnecessary, making it ideal for noise-sensitive areas.

Note: Full functionality is achieved with the STIHL AK 30 S battery. Other batteries may not support all features or maximum performance.

CONSTANT POWER

CONSTANT POWER, REGARDLESS OF BATTERY CHARGE STATUS. With other brands of battery tools, the performance usually decreases during work as the battery discharges. This is not the case with STIHL cordless power tools with CONSTANT POWER. Thanks to the intelligent electronics, your STIHL power tool works with consistently high power.

POWER BOOST

MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE INCREASE. Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.

QUICK CHAIN TENSIONING

RE-TENSION THE SAW CHAIN TOOL-FREE. Thanks to STIHL Quick Chain Tensioning, you can tension your saw chain quickly and without tools, thanks to the adjusting wheel. Turning the adjusting wheel to the left releases tension on the saw chain, and turning the adjustment wheel to the right tensions the saw chain. The guide bar will be automatically secured when you tighten the sprocket cover.

COLD START FUNCTION

RELIABLE STARTING IN COLD TEMPERATURES. Batteries only work at full power in ideal temperatures. If it is too cold, it usually takes time for the battery to warm up. Thanks to the cold start function, the tool is ready to start immediately, even at low temperatures down to -20°C, and offers almost the same output as at ideal temperatures.

FAQs

STIHL recommends the AK 30 S battery. Would the MSA 80 work with other AK batteries too? 

The AKS 30 S has the latest technology to provide maximum power to the chainsaw. When other AK-batteries are used, the operator will not have the full power available, and cutting capacity will be reduced.

MSA 80 C-B is sold with ¼” P-cutting attachments only. Can I mount a 3/8” sprocket, too?

The MSA 80 C-B works best with ¼” chains. That’s why we are not offering a version for 3/8” cutting attachments.

Can I use an AP Battery to increase runtime? 

No, even though chargers are compatible for AP and AK batteries the different battery systems are not compatible in the power tools.
