Lonicera sempervirens or Coral Honeysuckle can sometimes be called Trumpet Honeysuckle and it is native to Tennessee. It is a nice semi-evergreen vine that is an addition to a butterfly, native, or pollinator garden, and serves as a great replacement for other, non-native, flowering vines. It can add a vertical presence to the garden. Coral Honeysuckle is host to the Hummingbird Clearwing moth, Spring Azure butterfly, Snowberry Clearwing Moth, Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly, and others. Hummingbirds are frequent visitors as well!

Care

Trumpet honeysuckle grows in medium moisture, well-drained, neutral to acidic soils in full sun. It will grow in some shade, but best flowering is in full sun. It likes humus-rich soils. It flowers on new growth, so avoid pruning until after flowering. High nitrogen fertilizer will produce foliage at the expense of flowers. Full sun, Partial sun. Best grown in zones 6-11.

Growth Habit

This is a twining vine that can reach 10 to 20 feet tall. It needs a support structure and thus is an excellent choice for growing up a trellis, arbor or fence. However, it can also be allowed to sprawl as a ground cover. Trumpet honeysuckle flowers in mid-spring, and the non-fragrant blooms attract hummingbirds, who are the pollinators of this species.

Toxicity

While not highly poisonous, ingestion of leaves, flowers, or berries can cause gastrointestinal distress, including vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. The berries are generally considered the most toxic part of the plant. While hungry deer may nibble on new growth or flowers occasionally, they typically avoid it in favor of more palatable plants, making it a good choice for deer-prone areas.

Toy Not Safe For Chewers
Size: Medium 8", Style: Rubber Dog Toy, Size: Medium 8", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
We bought this tire toy for our puppy for Christmas. It was advertised as a natural rubber dog toy and implied to be durable. It lasted less than two hours. Our puppy was able to chew off small pieces of the rubber and swallowed some of the bits, which made her extremely sick. She ended up vomiting after ingesting pieces of this toy. I would not recommend this toy, it is not safe especially for dogs that like to chew.

Nice big tire toy
Size: Large 10", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
Our dog has had a tire toy about the same size as this one for 2 years, but it's finally been worn down from his love and zest for it along with weather. When I saw this one, I got excited! Great size for our 80lb 3yo pittie and pretty tough too, although, it's beginning to show signs of wear in only 3 weeks of him playing with it. It's not nearly as rugged as his old rubber tire. We'll have to see how long it actually lasts before I say the price was worth it or not.

Great dog toy for large breeds!
Size: Large 10", Style: Rubber Dog Toy, Size: Large 10", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
My dog Judge is a 110-pound German Shepherd that loves this tire! It is not the traditional ball that dogs like to play with, but it is so much safer since larger breeds might choke on a ball, as it’s easier to swallow! Judge doesn't go anywhere without his tire! From an owner's standpoint, it’s great also since it’s easy to throw and roll as well as last longer than most toys since it’s made of thick rubber! Best toy for the money I have found by far! Judge has the size large 10”!

Durable toy
Size: Medium 8", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
This is way too big for my dog. I thought it would be smaller when I ordered it.
