This Alastair Gibson sculpture is a smaller version of the original carbon dory sculpture which was produced from a commission by the Drang Gallery in Padstow, Cornwall, the UK home of the John Dory fish. Selected parts and materials used in this Carbon Art 45 sculpture are from modern Grand Prix cars as listed below.
Sculpture limited to 25 pieces.
Body: Carbon fibre, 2 ply/layers 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm with UV resistant clear matte coating.
Dorsal and underside fins: Silver coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel.
Tail and Pectoral fins: Silver coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel.
Marking detail: Silver standard Dory details with custom designed 2024 McLaren vinyl transfer.
Mounting base and rod: Mounted on a black coated wooden base with yellow Pirelli tyre ID logo and a gear from a modern Formula One GP car and stainless steel rod. *
*Base options include your choice of an F1 Gear or an F1 Wheel Nut with varying part numbers and signs of wear
Mounting methods: Desk mounted.
