Imperial Vintage Presentation Miners’ Pick Axe-It measures approx. 9 ¾” in length, and has an outstanding gilted highly ornate head. There is a blue panel that has the word Eickhoff. There are dancing men located on the front section of the pick head so I would say this was made by Henckels.
The front of the piece has a panel with the word "Eickhoff" which is a German mining equipment company that is in business to this day. On the reverse is the archaic expression: "WO KUOLEN LIEGT UN EKEN WASST DO WASST OK LU DE DOBI PASST" which very loosely translates to: 'Where there is iron and the oak trees grow, there are people who are made of the same".The collector put a DAF cog wheel on the wooden handle and I have not bothered to remove that. This is a very intriguing piece which will have collector appeal.
