This exquisite antique hard stone agate cameo brooch captures the tragic beauty of Beatrice Cenci, as depicted in the iconic painting by Guido Reni. The finely carved cameo portrays Beatrice with captivating delicacy, glancing over her shoulder, with meticulously rendered folds in her turban and draped fabric. The soft, nuanced features, characteristic of the finest 19th-century craftsmanship, highlight the skill and artistry involved in its creation.

The cameo is mounted in a richly decorated 18k gold frame, which features intricate granulation and twisted wire patterns with split pearls  placed at the quarter points. The reverse of the brooch is inscribed "1875, F. Tignani Engraver, Roma," indicating the work of Filippo Tignani, a distinguished Italian cameo engraver active in Rome between 1860 and 1880. Tignani was known for his mastery in crafting intricate hardstone and shell cameos, often depicting classical figures and scenes, and this piece is a remarkable example of his talent.

About: Beatrice Cenci’s tragic story, marked by abuse, resistance, and execution, has long resonated as a symbol of the suffering endured by women in oppressive circumstances. In the 19th century, her image was embraced as a reflection of innocence, victimhood, and the struggle for justice. While her fate is heartbreaking, her portrayal also embodies feminine strength and resilience, making her a poignant figure in art and jewelry. The creation of this cameo reflects not only the Romantic fascination with tragic beauty but also the growing awareness of women's rights and social justice. This brooch, capturing Beatrice's delicate features and sorrowful expression, serves as a powerful reminder of the historical and emotional depths of her story.

Perfect 2nd Birthday Gift, So Fun and Interactive!
Format: Board book
This book was such a fun gift for my niece’s 2nd birthday! She absolutely loved it from the moment she opened it. The bright pictures in the classic Eric Carle style are beautiful and really grab little ones’ attention. The buttons are easy for small hands to push, and the animal sounds make it extra engaging and interactive. She had so much fun pressing the buttons over and over again and trying to copy the sounds. It’s a great book for keeping toddlers entertained.
