A highly sough after Edwardian design, this enchanting antique ring combines romance, craftsmanship, and hidden sentiment concealed within...

Created in rich 18 carat gold and hallmarked in Chester in 1902, the ring has a beautifully ethereal feel typical of the Edwardian era. At first glance, it appears classic and understated. Yet it conceals a touching secret within.

The hinged front panel is beautifully decorated with a heart motif set with a single old cut diamond. Its hand cut facets giving a soft sparkle. Surrounding the heart is an ivy motif, a deeply symbolic plant during the Victorian and Edwardian eras representing fidelity, enduring affection. This decoration makes it a perfect accompaniment to the romantic hidden message within.

The panel opens to reveal the word: 'DEAREST'. Secret message and hidden compartment rings were treasured during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, often exchanged as deeply personal tokens of affection. The word “Dearest” itself carries additional romantic significance in antique jewellery.

The craftsmanship of the hinged mechanism is especially skilled, adding an intimate and interactive quality to the piece that makes it feel deeply personal over a century later.

A rare and meaningful treasure from the early 20th century.

Adequate for our use.....
Format: Hardcover
The book arrived a week before expected and they were true to their evaluation that this was a used book in "acceptable condition". It was once a library book and has been well loved. Someone has taken contact paper to try to salvage the cover and binding. It looks rumply, but we were getting this for a 1 year old whose Dad is going to go to Heavy Equipment School for the next 4 years, so this will be a fine book for a little guy as the insides look fine.....I wouldn't have been happy if I'd wanted a new looking book, but the price was very reasonable. I think it was $3.99 for shipping and a penny for the book. SUCHA DEAL!

Great Book!
Format: Hardcover
We bought this book a year ago for our then almost three-year-old. He loves it. As does his older sister (8), and brother (6) and his younger brother (almost 2). It has held up amazingly well considering the amount or use and abuse it gets. I love that it tells actual names and functions. More than once we've seen a machine while driving around town, then come home and looked it up. Well worth the money.
