A handsome late Georgian intaglio fob of refined design. The form is neat and architectural, terminating in a rectangular mount that allows the intaglio itself to take centre stage.

Set at the base is a glowing warm quartz seal, its honeyed tone catching the light beautifully and giving the piece a gentle, mellow radiance. The stone has been expertly engraved with a thistle. A motif rich in symbolism, long associated with resilience, protection, and Scottish heritage. The fine detail of the carving is especially impressive, with the spined leaves and tufted bloom rendered with confident precision.

Fobs such as this were both practical and personal, used to seal correspondence while also serving as a subtle statement of identity or allegiance. The restrained elegance of the mount paired with the warmth of the quartz creates a piece that  feels tactile in the hand.
