Two volumes of a photographic study of American longrifles. It includes Volume 1, 2nd Edition in color and Volume 2, 1st Edition in black and white.

Volume One:

This is an extensive photographic study of American longrifles made in the colonial period, the Revolutionary period, and the post-Revolutionary years before the Federal Period. For each of the 139 rifles treated there are ten or more detailed photographs. A description of each rifle accompanies the illustrations, and many important dimensions are given. The text is concerned with the complex subject of the evolution of the baroque and rococo art that adorns it. Annontated 2nd edition in 2024 with color photos and added rifles.

About this second edition:

In 1980, George Shumway published the first of his monumental, two volume Rifles of Colonial America. This in-depth look at rifles and gunmaking in early America brought together George's "painted light" photographs of many rifles with what was known about individual gunmakers and regional "schools" or styles of work. It was George's wish that the books would encourage further research and bring to light additional early rifles. This new edition helps to further that goal.

CCTP Publishing and George Shumway Publisher have collaborated to produce this revised and expanded edition, with a substantial number of the rifles re-photographed in color. Access to rifles and photographs from organization, auction houses, museums, and private collectors made this possible, and the latest photographic and printing technologies were applied. Where color photographs of rifles were not available, black and white originals were scanned and enhanced for improved quality.

Significant new research has also been added, along with ten previously unknown or unpublished rifles, also in full color.

Volume Two:

This is an extensive photographic study of American longrifles made in the colonial period, the Revolutionary period, and the post-Revolutionary years before the Federal Period. For each of the 139 rifles treated there are ten or more detailed photographs. A description of each rifle accompanies the illustrations, and many important dimensions are given. The text is concerned with the complex subject of the evolution of the baroque and rococo art that adorns it. Reprinted in 2002 in two volumes.

Excellent value, flawless performance for well over a year and no signs of quitting.
Color: Green/Black
Excellent value, had this for well over a year and it still keeps perfect time, still water resistant. No worries about having to change batteries. Owned a fancy expensive (battery) watch once and the dept. store repair intentionally sabotaged the watch in the hopes I would purchase another from them. Yeah, good luck with that, lost my business forever. This is the 21st century, cell phones are the new time pieces, but solar is totally reliable and Timex makes it happen. Holds a charge for many months, although I prop it in a bright window for a few days every few months or so just to make sure the cells are always fully charged, although it's probably unnecessary, just being over cautious. I haven't actually experienced this watch ever running out of power even after months of use. Damn impressive, as it should be.

Good value for solar watch
Color: Black/Orange
Nice watch! It is plastic like but it is solar. No indiglo button only a little luminous on the hands so you don't want to wear it in tje dark and expect to check the time. 45mm case is good size for my wrist and the band works good also, Not too long not too short. Overall a good watch with no problems

Do not buy
Color: Green/Black
Do not buy. When I received the watch it did not work and the battery was dead. I bought a new battery and it killed that one as well after about a month.

Inexpensive doesn’t mean cheap.
Color: Black/Orange
After 10 months, zero complaints. Well, I got rid of the horrible NATO strap 🙄. That’s a personal preference. Easy to swap out to whatever you like. Keeps accurate time meaning it’s the same time. I’m not micro analyzing it and the seconds gained/lost. It has a confident look and feel and makes you feel good when wearing it. Sure it’s not high priced but it’s not cheap. Very comfortable, light and not unincumbered. If this is what you’re looking at, you’d be satisfied. Great looking, durable and simple watch. Full confidence.
