Whether you're drawn to colorful dinghies bobbing at their moorings, weathered rowboats pulled up on the beach, or small craft reflected in calm harbor waters, you'll learn to transform your favorite dinghy photographs into compelling landscape paintings.
What You'll Learn:
In this 4-hour workshop, Bobbi will guide you step-by-step through her proven process for creating successful landscape paintings—with nothing left out and all questions answered. You'll explore:
- How to create a compelling composition from a photograph
- Understanding how light creates dark and light patterns in water landscapes
- Color mixing techniques using a limited palette
- Step-by-step painting process from composition to finished work
- A practical checklist to know when your painting is complete
Workshop Details:
- Choose your medium: oils, acrylics, gouache, or watercolor
- Bring your own photograph of a dinghy scene, or an image provided by Bobbi
- Each participant receives an 8x8 canvas
- Bobbi will demonstrate in the medium(s) students prefer
- Perfect for beginning and intermediate painters
About the Instructor:
Bobbi Heath is an artist in love with the New England coast, known for her bold, colorful paintings that celebrate life near the water from Rhode Island to Maine. After years balancing a technology career with her passion for painting, Bobbi discovered daily painting and plein air work, which transformed her practice. She has been teaching for over 10 years, leading in-person and online classes, as well as workshops in Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, and France. What to Bring:
Participants must bring their own art supplies (paints, brushes, palette, etc.) in their preferred medium. Optional: bring a photograph of a snow scene you'd like to paint.
