Te koop is een uiterst zeldzame prototype lens: Leitz 50mm f2.8 Elmarit. Waarschijnlijk kent iedereen de normale 3e versie Leitz 50mm f2 Summicron lenzen, maar dit is géén Summicron maar een f2.8 Elmarit lens!!! Hoewel de behuizing er hetzelfde uitziet, is het ontwerp volledig anders. Het is niet alleen een f2.8 lens met een andere berekening, maar de lens heeft ook 15 in plaats van 10 diafragmabladen!

De lens is een prototype lens en is gemaakt in Duitsland. Er zijn er niet veel van geproduceerd. De lens komt uit een Europese collectie en er wordt gezegd dat er in totaal slechts 4 stuks met serienummers tussen 0001067 en 0001070 van zijn gemaakt, wat deze tot de eerste maakt. De laatste met nummer 0001070 is afgebeeld in het boek van de heer James L. Lager "An Illustrated History Volume II - Lenses". 

De lens is in uitstekende staat. De vatting is bijna als nieuw. De ring met het witte stipje voor het diafragma ziet er als een black paint ring uit. De lensdelen vertonen wat aanslag en sporen in de coating in het midden van de lensdelen. Voor een zeldzame prototype lens is dit natuurlijk niet zo belangrijk.

Lens wordt geleverd met een plastic achterlensdop en een container met sticker waarop staat: "Elmarit 1:2,8/50mm f. M-Kamera B754 Zeichn.-Nr.: 040-051.001+(St) Prüf-Nr. 126/69 Prüfbericht: Nr. 36/69 v. 20.10.69".

Zeer interessante lens. Waarschijnlijk de enige mogelijkheid om een dergelijke lens te bemachtigen. Een echte must have voor een Leica verzamelaar. Wees niet te laat!!!
