Het betreft hier dus originele munten met een zilverkleurige laagje vermaakt tot manchetknopen. 

Deze munten 1 eurocent zijn voorzien van een afbeelding van de kathedraal van Santiago de Compostela, een juweel van Spaans-Romaanse bouwkunst en een van de beroemdste bedevaartsoorden ter wereld. De munten laten de monumentale gevel zien van de Obradoiro, een schitterend voorbeeld van Spaanse barokarchitectuur, aan de bouw waarvan in 1667 werd begonnen door José del Toro en Domingo de Andrade.
