Beste natuurlijke bronnen
Het zinkgehalte van het voedsel dat we eten, wordt negatief beïnvloed door bodemuitputting en voedselverwerking. De beste bronnen van alle sporenelementen in het juiste evenwicht zijn natuurlijke, onbewerkte voedingsmiddelen. Diëten met veel eiwit, volkorenproducten, biergist, tarwezemelen, tarwekiemen, haring en pompoenzaden bevatten meestal veel zink.
Opname en opslag
Zink wordt gemakkelijk opgenomen in de twaalfvingerige en de dunne darm. Het lichaam absorbeert slechts zoveel als op een bepaald moment nodig is. De rest wordt niet opgenomen. Ook gaat er ongeveer 6 mg per dag verloren. De opname daalt wanneer er grote hoeveelheden calcium worden ingenomen. Zink, cadmium, zilver en koper concurreren met elkaar om opname in de dunne darm. Een teveel aan vezels verhindert de benutting van zink, omdat zink met de vezels bindt en erdoor wordt weggevoerd voordat het kan worden opgenomen. De grootste zinkvoorraden worden gevonden in de lever, de alvleesklier, de nieren, de botten en de willekeurige spieren. Een hoge inname van calcium en fytaten, dat in bepaalde granen voorkomt, kan de opname van zink belemmeren.
Deze formule is hypoallergeen en geschikt voor vegetariërs en veganisten.

I like the mildly tart taste of this unflavored, unsweetened drink made up with water. The texture doesn't bother me, with stirring right from the beginning of adding the water, there is no clumping. After 10 days there is no effect on my bowels which were regular previously anyway. My doctor wanted me to use this although I already have a high fiber diet.

Definitely Not Unflavored. This is Tart / Sour, Which Limits the Options to Certain Juices

I was expecting an unflavored fiber powder. However, expect a sour/tart taste. This means you can't add it to tea or coffee. I don't think it is appropriate to say that it is "unflavored" as I've had psyllium husk from other vendors that are truly "unflavored" (i.e. no citric acid). Dextrin (another fiber source) is also unflavored. But this Metamucil is tart (like sucking a lime) and can only be added to tart juices like orange juice or lemonade.

Happy it is unflavored

I was worried about the taste based on some of the reviews. I tried it in my coffee, and I'm glad I did it that way. I keep coffee in the fridge, so that is what I mixed with one tablespoon of this. I use half and half and no sugar. I tasted it. It tastes like burnt coffee. Not a bad thing...thats just what the taste it added. I decided to see what would happen if I added a splash of a flavored creamer. The taste went away instantly. Hope this helps someone!

Fantastic product, dont like the texture - mix with food. Still 10/10 💩🎉

Taste:
While the product doesn’t taste bad, preparing it as directed results in a very mild orange flavor. -as a drink I would prefer more flavor.
Texture:
The psyllium husk absorbs water extremely quickly—even in cold or room-temp water—which is just the nature of the ingredient itself. Because it starts to gel so fast, you have to chug it, and even then it can be difficult to get down. (I personally gag at it, but I have sensory issues) If the gel like texture is an issue for you, I found it more palatable mixed into food with water on the side. Texture aside, the product itself is highly effective.
Mixability:
It doesn’t always mix smoothly and tends to clump. Again nature of the ingredient not the brand. The powder is very fine and non-gritty perfect for other mixings.
Side effects:
I had uncomfortable bloating the first time (2 scoops/ full glass), I recommend starting with (1 scoop or less/full glass) Dont rush it. Increase it from there as you grow tolerance. You may feel very full. - it helped me eat less!
