De FR9 begeleidt u op betrouwbare wijze van de noordelijke Middellandse Zeekust van Spanje - vanaf de droomachtige Cap de Creus - naar Frankrijk via de historische havenstad Marseille naar Toulon. De bezienswaardige Cap de Creus een schiereiland van bizarre rotsformaties van de uitlopers van de Pyreneeën steekt zo'n 10 km de zee in en lokt met ontelbare baaien. Voordat u de Franse kust bereikt kunt u aanleggen in de rustige Port de la Selva. Aan de Franse kant staat de havenstad Sète ongeveer 30 km ten zuidwesten van Montpellier bekend als Klein Venetië. In het algemeen zijn er verschillende grote havens zoals Port Camargue Port-St-Louis-du-Rhône Port de Martigues en Port Carry le Rouet tot u het historische Marseille bereikt. Daar wordt een aanlegplaats in de Vieux Port van Marseille aanbevolen aangezien deze haven al in de oudheid bestond. Ook een bezoek aan de Frioulen-eilanden voor de kust van Marseille is de moeite waard. Een tussenstop waard is het charmante Cassis dat uitnodigt om uit te rusten met de Calanque de Port Miou een uitkijkpunt boven de kleine haven.
