Het bedrijf is gelegen in het zuidelijkste puntje van de Pfalz, en daar profiteert het gebied van een uniek microklimaat, waar de druiven tot optimale rijping komen. In 2007 nam Frank Spiegel de ongeveer 48 hectare wijngaard over van zijn stiefvader Harald Ellermann. Tot die tijd verkocht hij de wijn in vaten aan coöperaties. Ik korte tijd heeft Frank het bedrijf omgetoverd van bulkleverancier naar kwaliteitshuis met eigen bottelingen. Met succes brengen zij de wijnen van Ellermann-Spiegel sinds drie jaar op de Nederlandse markt. Pfalz is het op één na grootste Anbaugebiet van Duitsland, grenzend aan Rheinhessen in het noorden en de Elzas in het zuiden. Dankzij de Atlantische oceaan heerst er een mild klimaat met relatief weinig regen. De wind komt vanuit het westen. In de zomer is het meestal warm en zonnig. In de winter worden de druiven door het Haardtgebergte tegen koude oostenwind beschermt en in de zomer houdt deze gebergte juist de warmte vast. De ideale omstandigheden voor druiven dus. En dat merken wij terug in de wijnen van Ellermann Spiegel.Handmatige oogst voor de wijnen van Ellermann Spiegel
De druiven voor deze Dronfelder worden met de hand geplukt en rijpt gedurende twaalf maanden op houten vaten en roestvrijstalen tanks. Met zijn intense geur van rijpe zoete kersen, pruimen en frambozenjam, betovert het de zintuigen van tevoren. In de mond kan het overtuigen met zijn nuchterheid, omdat het bescheiden en helemaal niet pretentieus heel zacht en rond de tong spoelt en niet te dik of samentrekkend is. Een Palts-klassieker. This sunscreen is well-known, but let me tell you about the manufacturer….

Have been using this sunscreen for most of my life—it’s been around forever. Product consistency has always been 100 percent perfect.
But a few weeks ago I purchased the sunscreen I’m reviewing here, and when I went to use it, rather than finding a well-blended white lotion, the lotion had separated into white clumps and a watery liquid. The product was clearly defective even though it was well within its use-by date.
I reached out to Coppertone via email and asked for a product replacement. They got back to me that same afternoon with a letter of apology, sent me coupons for a few free bottles of this sunscreen, included some additional discount coupons for Coppertone products, and also sent a prepaid label and pouch to return the defective product since they wanted to make sure that they were able to solve whatever had led to that product being released in that condition.
All in all, I was impressed. Coppertone is clearly a firm with a customer-centric culture, and a commitment to product quality.
I thought I’d share this since it isn’t everyday that customers gets an inside look into the culture and values of an otherwise very well-known, market leading firm like Coppertone.

Perfect Travel Size TSA approved size

I recently bought the Coppertone SPORT Sunscreen SPF 50 Lotion in travel size for my son’s first trip to Cancun alone, and I have to say, it was a fantastic choice! Whether you're headed to a sunny beach, a day of fishing, or just need reliable protection from the sun, this sunscreen delivers. Here’s my review based on its performance during the trip:
Convenience and Travel-Friendly:
The travel size is perfect for anyone on the go. It’s small enough to meet TSA guidelines for carry-ons, so you don’t have to worry about checking luggage or dealing with oversized bottles at security. My son was able to easily pack it in his carry-on without any hassle. Additionally, the compact size makes it super convenient to throw into a pocket or backpack for a day of fishing, beach trips, or any outdoor adventure.
Sun Protection:
The SPF 50 provides excellent protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays, which is especially important for long hours spent in the sun. Cancun’s sun can be intense, and my son was out in the elements for several hours each day (and I wasn't there to remind him to reapply sunscreen), whether he was fishing, swimming, or just relaxing at the beach. He didn’t get burned once!! As a mother of a redheaded 18 year old son I've spent the past 18 years of my life ensuring he wasn't scorched by the sun and Coppertone has yet to let us down!
Water Resistance:
The water-resistant formula is a huge plus, especially in places like Cancun, where you’ll likely be in and out of the water. My son spent plenty of time swimming and snorkeling, and the sunscreen stayed put. It lasted through sweating, splashing, and even sea water exposure without needing constant reapplication. It’s perfect for active outdoor activities, whether you're swimming, surfing, or just sweating it out in the sun.

Dries clear, moisturizing, silky, great value

I have fair to light combination skin. I use this on my body, but not my face. It goes on very thick and white, but sinks into the skin lightning fast (within just a few seconds), and it becomes completely invisible. It leaves my skin moisturized and looking and feeling silky. Best body sunscreen I've ever tried. And I love that it is water resistant! I find it too heavy and moisturizing to use on my face, but people with dry skin would probably love it for the face, too. I imagine it would be fantastic for them under makeup. The price per ounce is very reasonable, making it a great value.
