Advocaat Mickey Haller is terug en bereid om de moeilijkste rechtszaken aan te nemen, waarbij de kans om te winnen één op een miljoen lijkt. Hij stemt in om een vrouw te verdedigen die in de gevangenis zit voor het vermoorden van haar echtgenoot, een politieagent die werkte voor de plaatselijke sheriff. Vier jaar geleden is ze veroordeeld, maar ze houdt nog altijd vast aan haar onschuld. Haller schakelt de hulp in van zijn halfbroer; de gepensioneerde LAPD-detective Harry Bosch. Al snel stuit Bosch op informatie die het politieonderzoek van vier jaar geleden in twijfel trekt. I decided to lavish myself by buying this soap, because it’s a bit more pricey. But it’s actually saving me more money, at this rate I’ll be buying another one of these every 3 months!
