Het geeft een beeld van het dagelijkse leven maar ook van allerlei situaties, momenten en maatregelen tijdens de bezetting.
De oorlog van Jan Massink Het boek ‘De oorlog van Jan Massink’ geeft een indrukwekkend beeld van met name Doetinchem in de jaren 1940-1945. Massink fotografeerde al deze jaren en hield ook een dagboek bij. Deze combinatie is uniek en daardoor historisch van grote waarde voor de beschrijving en vastlegging van de oorlogsjaren. Het geeft een beeld van het dagelijkse leven maar ook van allerlei situaties, momenten en maatregelen tijdens de bezetting. Indrukwekkend zijn de foto’s van de ruïnes na de bombardementen in maart 1945. Massink maakte ook fietstochten door de omgeving van Doetinchem maar bijvoorbeeld ook enkele weken na de Duitse inval naar de Grebbeberg en de Utrechtse Heuvelrug. De foto’s bevonden zich sinds de jaren ’80 in het Staring Instituut, later het Erfgoedcentrum Achterhoek en Liemers. De honderden foto’s zijn ingescand, bewerkt en beschreven door Karel Berkhuysen die er voor het boek enkele honderden selecteerde. Tijdens een expositie (eerst ECAL, later De Kruisberg) kwam hij in contact met de rechthebbenden: twee achternichten van Jan Massink. Hierna doken ook twee dagboeken op die zijn uitgeschreven door Ingeborg te Dorsthorst. In het boek is een selectie van de foto’s opgenomen aangevuld met dagboekfragmenten en toelichtende verhalen, geschreven door Karel Berkhuysen.Shipping Notes

Great when installed. Some problems
Style: 48inch 2 tier
The shelves are assembled and installed on my wall. I'm happy with them. They look great and are very sturdy. What prevents a 5-star rating? The instructions were poor. Not a huge deal as I was able to figure things out. The wall anchors that came with were cheap and (in my opinion) unusable. I went to Lowe's and bought some drywall anchors that were rated for 79 pounds and they worked well. During the install, I wasn't sure if I should attach the wall plates and assemble the shelves on the wall, or assemble everything and then attach it to the wall. Assembling before hanging was the way to go but it took two people.
One other minor thing: The shelves are stained on one side an not the other. Since I have them high up on a wall, I'm looking at the unstained side. Yes, I can stain the unstained part, but it would be nice if they had just stained the top and bottom at the factory.

Beautiful Shelving Unit
Style: 48 inch 3 tier
The shelving unit is beautiful. It has not been hung yet, but I plan on using it to replace my entertainment center and hang my TV above it. I am so excited as the shelves matched perfectly to my furniture so I believe it will be a lovely addition to my living room and take up less space than the entertainment center does.
