Ecolette appelboom (Malus domestica)

De Ecolette appelboom is een sterk appelras met friszoete tot licht friszure appels. De vruchten hebben een rood met gele kleur en zijn stevig van structuur. De smaak lijkt wat op Elstar, waardoor Ecolette een goede keuze is voor wie een sterke en gezonde appelboom zoekt met een herkenbare appelsmaak.

De Ecolette is ontstaan uit een kruising van Elstar en Prima. Een groot voordeel van dit ras is de goede weerstand tegen schurft en de lage gevoeligheid voor meeldauw. Daardoor past deze appelboom goed in een particuliere tuin en wordt hij ook veel gewaardeerd voor een meer natuurlijke of biologische teelt.

Bloei en bestuiving

De Ecolette appelboom bloeit in april en mei met witroze bloesem. Deze bloesem trekt bijen en andere bestuivende insecten aan. Ecolette is zelfbestuivend en kan dus zonder andere appelboom vruchten geven. Voor een hogere opbrengst kan een andere appelboom in de buurt wel helpen.

Oogsttijd van de Ecolette appel

De Ecolette appels kunnen meestal in september tot oktober geplukt worden. De appels zijn stevig en goed te bewaren. Op een koele plek blijven ze vaak lang op smaak, waardoor u ook na de oogst nog een tijd van de appels kunt genieten.

Ecolette appelboom snoeien

Snoeien kan het beste tussen januari en maart op een vorstvrije dag. Verwijder dode, beschadigde en kruisende takken. Ook steil omhoog groeiende waterloten en sterke rechtopgaande scheuten kunnen worden weggehaald. Deze loten kosten veel energie en dragen meestal weinig vruchten.

Houd de kroon open en luchtig, zodat zonlicht goed bij de vruchtdragende takken kan komen. Een lichte zomersnoei in juli of augustus is ook mogelijk om nieuwe waterloten te verwijderen en de groei wat te remmen.

Standplaats en verzorging

Plant de Ecolette appelboom op een zonnige plek in voedzame, goed doorlatende grond. Zet de boom niet in te natte grond, want appelbomen houden niet van langdurig natte wortels. Geef vooral in de eerste jaren voldoende water tijdens droge periodes.

A very comfortable shirt at a good price!

Comes out very soft once washed! I ordered this shirt when I saw it and was curious how stiff the material was. I was expecting something a bit more coarse since it was western wear, but was pleasantly surprised to find that once washed it became very soft. The shirt is also very light and airy, and allows the breeze through to cool you off. I was also impressed with the quality of the shirt. All the stitching is tight and neat, and there were no threads hanging loose to catch on anything. As far as sizing goes, it was exactly what they recommended based on measurements, and it fits great. The cut of the shirt is pretty nice also with a bit of a taper, and it looks really good on (according to my wife, anyway). The shirt is versatile enough to wear out to dinner at the steakhouse, or to work in the yard. Bottom line: The shirt is comfortable, fits well, is good for work or going out, and a great deal for the money!

Looked amazing… but not built for broader shoulders

I got this for my husband because he’s fully leaning into his cowboy era lately (new boots, new attitude, the whole thing), and I thought this shirt would seal the deal. First impression—honestly impressed. The color is really nice and the embroidery detail looks great in person. It doesn’t feel cheap at all and definitely looks more high-end than expected. For reference, he’s about 5’6”, 140 lbs with an athletic build. The shirt almost worked—it fit well through the body and could be fully buttoned, but the shoulders were just too tight. As soon as he moved his arms, it felt restrictive, like the seams were being pushed to their limit. Which is a shame… because wow, he looked GOOD in this. And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually love this style. I’d say this shirt runs better for slimmer or narrower builds. If you’ve got broader shoulders or any upper body muscle, you may want to size up or skip this one. Overall, great quality and style, just not the right fit for an athletic frame.
