Heinkel HE-111 Luftwaffe bomber model. The Heinkel He-111 was the most served medium-bomber in the Luftwaffe. The He-111 was first a project for a mixed aircraft (bomber and commercial transport) made by Siegfried and Walter Günther. First built in 1934 and he flew February 24, 1935. The first versions possessed a classic windshield and an elliptic wing (a bomber version of this type, the He 111B-1 served in the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War).
The first version of mass production to receive a straight wing was the He 111F. The He 111P was endowed of an entirely glazed asymmetric nose, without outside disconnecting of the windshield. Some He-111P equipped of Daimler Benz 301 engines served in the Luftwaffe in 1939, and the He-111H endowed with Junkers Jumo 211 engines (whose variants constituted the iron of spear of the Bombardment strength of the Luftwaffe between 1940 and 1943) entered in service some months later. All these aircrafts participated in many raids during the Battle of Britain under the conduct of scout planes of the Kamphgruppe 100. Unfortunately, if at the time of the compaign of Poland or France the He-111 didn't have a lot of resistance, it didn't goes the same way in the battle of England. Facing the British Fighter Command, the Heinkels proved to be very vulnerable to the fast Fighter of the RAF as the Spitfire or the Hurricaine. Nevertheless, the production of the He-111 continued and the first version conceived to carry torpedos was the He. 111H-6, followed-up by the He. 111H-15. Comes then the He. 111H-8, with a cumbersome system to cut cables of dam balls, the He. 111H-11/R2, the He. 111H-14 and H-18, scout planes equipped with special radio systems. The He. 111H-16 possessed an increased defensive armament and the He. 111H-20 knew under-variants as a night-bomber and for the transport of 16 paratroops. The He. 111H-22, that carried away a Fi 103 bomb, was used against United Kingdom at the end of the year 1944. Most extraordinary of all was the He-111Z (for Zwilling "Twins"), that was constituted (a few as the Bf-109Z) of two He-111H united by a central element carrying a fifth motor. More than 7000 units were built in all variants.
