6/7/8-Speed Universal Bicycle Chain with Pre-Installed Connector (116 Links)

Key Features

  • Multi-Speed Precision Geometry: Specifically engineered to provide smooth, consistent shifting for 6, 7, and 8-speed drivetrains, featuring optimized plate spacing to prevent chain suck and dropped gears.
  • Anti-Corrosive Nickel Plating: Treated with a specialized anti-rust finish that protects the steel core from oxidation caused by rain, mud, and road salt, ensuring a longer service life and reduced friction.
  • Pre-Installed Connecting Link: Comes with a master link already attached or included, allowing for a fast, tool-free installation and easy removal for deep cleaning or drivetrain maintenance.
  • Smooth-Shifting Inner Chamfers: The inner and outer plates feature beveled edges (chamfering) that help the chain "climb" and "drop" between cogs more efficiently, reducing drivetrain noise and shifting hesitation.
  • High-Tensile Strength Pins: Utilizes reinforced chromoly steel pins with a specialized riveting process, providing the durability needed for high-torque climbing and urban commuting.

Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Shimano Standards: CN-HG40, CN-HG71, CN-HG50, CN-UG51.
  • SRAM Standards: PC-830, PC-850, PC-870.
  • KMC Equivalents: Z8.3, Z7, X8 series.
  • Specifications: 1/2" x 3/32" (Standard width for 6-8 speed), 116 Links.

Compatibility & Fitment

This chain is a universal replacement for legacy and entry-level drivetrains across various cycling disciplines. Key compatible groupsets include:

  • Shimano: Fits Tourney, Altus, Acera, and older Claris (8-speed) groupsets, as well as vintage 6-8 speed road and mountain bike systems.
  • SRAM: Compatible with X3, X4, and legacy 3.0 series mountain and hybrid drivetrains.
  • Campagnolo & SunRace: Works with vintage 8-speed Campagnolo and standard 6/7/8-speed SunRace cassettes and freewheels.
  • Bike Types: Ideal for mountain bikes (MTB), road bikes, hybrids, gravel bikes, and cyclocross setups utilizing 18, 21, or 24-gear configurations.
  • Note: This chain is not compatible with 9, 10, 11, or 12-speed systems, as those require a much narrower chain width.

When to Replace

  • Chain Wear Reading: Use a chain checker tool; for 6-8 speed chains, replace once it reaches 0.75% wear to prevent the chain from prematurely wearing down your cassette and chainrings.
  • "Ghost" Shifting: If the chain jumps between gears or slips while pedaling under load, the internal rollers and pins are likely worn beyond their tolerance.
  • Visible Rust or Stiff Links: Excessive oxidation or links that no longer pivot freely through the rear derailleur pulleys indicate the chain is nearing the end of its life.
  • High Mileage: Depending on riding conditions and maintenance, these chains typically last between 1,500 to 2,500 miles.
  • Loud Drivetrain: A persistent "dry" or grinding sound that remains even after proper cleaning and lubrication.

Installation Tips

  • Chain Sizing: Do not use all 116 links unless required. Compare the new chain to your old one or use the "Big-to-Big" method (wrap the chain around the largest front and rear cogs without the derailleur and add 2 links) to find the correct length.
  • Clean Before Lube: **PRO TIP:** Wipe away the sticky factory packing grease with a clean rag before applying a high-quality, weather-appropriate bicycle lubricant for the best performance.
  • Connector Orientation: Ensure the pre-installed master link is snapped fully into the "locked" position. You can do this by applying downward pressure on the pedal while holding the rear brake.
  • Derailleur Routing: Pay close attention to the routing through the rear derailleur pulleys. Ensure the chain does not rub against the metal tabs or cages of the derailleur.
  • Check for Stiff Links: After installation, back-pedal several times to ensure the chain moves smoothly through the entire drivetrain without catching.

Really good read, and leaves questions
Format: Paperback
Nice to see the Ben Solo story flushed out more than what was shown in The Last Jedi and The Rise Of Skywalker. A good job also of not explaining everything. Ben mentions something about what Skywalker did to Snoke, and then there's the Emperor himself speaking to Ben in his mind, which makes one wonder, if even the Emperor was his own voice in Ben's head, why didn't Kylo recognize him in The Rise Of Skywalker. Plenty of things left to really expand upon this very good story.

Excellent Story
Format: Paperback
Charles Soule is without a doubt one of the greatest Star Wars authors around. With this comic he keeps the reader on their toes making it hard to set the book down. It is a definite page turner and easily one of the best comics Marvel has out out under the Star Wars name. An intriguing story, unforgettable moments, and packed with lore, Star Wars fans are sure to love The Rise of Kylo Ren.

Ben Solo’s fall is tragic
Format: Paperback
We don’t know much about Ben Solo’s past, but this comic explains a little bit more about why he is the way he is. It also explains that he didn’t do all the things he himself implies in TLJ. It’s a story of a young man who is lost because those he is supposed to trust betray him, which is exactly what Snoke/Palpatine want. It shows he didn’t really have a choice in the path he took and it makes his redemption at the end of the saga powerful, even if the last movie itself destroys the myth of Star Wars. I love knowing that Rey and Ben have always had a connection and I hope that is something explored more deeply in Episode X when they bring Ben back.
