The burly part is just below the nose of the alligator / wolf / fox. This piece will be beautifully chatoyant once finished. It has a mix of heartwood, sapwood, and bark. Its color is tan to peach with plenty of variation throughout. The grain is just gorgeous. Sometimes straight, sometimes wavy, sometimes curled. There is plenty of character to work with: frass-filled boreholes, bark, open cracks, bark inclusions. . These all are character marks that bring Pecan its beauty. If you wish to preserve these features in the finished turning, be sure to use CA glue to secure bark and to stabilize or fill the boreholes. The open cracks may be good candidates for a contrasting-color epoxy fill. This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. About the Tree This Texas-grown Pecan tree was harvested in Fresno Texas in December, 2021. It was in a residential neighborhood where it had been planted near a home that was built in the 1930s. Over the years, the small Pecan tree grew large, and it threatened the house. The homeowners reluctantly called their tree company to cut down the tree and stack the wood for us to recover. We're always happy to save wood from the firepit or city dump. Their trash is now yours to treasure! |

Great all around bowls especially for a cat food bowl.
Kitty food bowl liners (20 ounce size). I use cereal bowls for cat food, as find the tiny pet bowls fairly useless for grown cats - they get pushed around, and slopped over.
But the kitties walk away from their food and come back, so of course it gets all gummy. Using these as food bowl liners keeps everything fresh and u are not scraping crust off the dishes all the time. Of course I grab them too for my own snacks. I used to get bowls at grocery and would get twitchy when I ran out, and get real irritated when all that was available was plastic bowls. These are just a great all around product and bulk buying is so convenient; plus even the pattern is soothing and attractive. Not sure the cats care but they might.

I like that I can buy these in large quantities. Get a little soft with liquids after sitting for a while. There’s sturdier bowls on the market but these work well for the price.

Will buy again.
I've already bought these twice. The first batch, bottom bowl had a slice in it, like someone had cut it while opening the box, but I didn't use a knife to open them, so it had to have been part of a bigger box. Anyway, it was just the one, the very last bowl. That was a surprise with my cereal, lol.
