This Les Paul Standard strays from the beaten path off the bat with its body construction. More similar to some Les Paul Customs rather than the tried-and-true Les Paul, this Standard 60s is constructed with a mahogany body and top. Where maple is normally the choice of top for the Les Paul, this mahogany selection makes for a more midrange-focused, slightly warmer tone from the get-go.
The Les Paul Standard 60s continues on from there at a familiar pace. Its mahogany neck assumes a 60s-style SlimTaper profile while its rosewood fingerboard is lined with twenty-two frets. Seamlessly playable across the palm and the fingers, this Les Paul plays with speed and comfort. Single-ply black top and fingerboard binding ties the body together for a slick visual sum.
The audible experience of this Les Paul Standard kicks ahead with the addition of two Gibson Burstbucker 61 humbucking pickups. These pickups sing and bark with a cool spectrum of sounds to get creative with and play with a stellar voice clean, overdriven, distorted, and anywhere else in between. Wired to audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, the Burstbuckers offer a responsive and high-fidelity sound across its full amplified range.
A number of fine hardware specifications build upon this sonic profile. An ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece ground strings solidly for sturdy intonation. These pieces are matched at the guitar's opposite end with a Graph Tech nut and six Grover Rotomatic Kidney Button tuning machines. Streamlining string changes and assuring consistent playability across the full scale length, these hardware specs compound for a totally solid instrument.
