Mansfield schrijft haar verhalen in een zuivere, heldere taal, waarmee ze met uiterste precisie de gevoelens en gedachten weergeeft van haar personages: mensen van elke leeftijd, uit alle rangen en standen van de samenleving. Humor, inlevingsvermogen en mededogen kenmerken haar benadering van mensen en dieren. Daarnaast zijn haar natuurbeschrijvingen ongeëvenaard.

Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923) groeide op in Nieuw-Zeeland als dochter van een rijke koloniale handelaar. Op 15-jarige leeftijd werd ze naar Engeland gestuurd voor haar opleiding, maar toen ze in 1906 terugkeerde kon ze niet meer aarden in het bekrompen milieu waarin ze was opgegroeid. Ze vertrok in 1908 definitief naar Europa, waar ze in Londen bevriend raakte met Virginia Woolf en D.H. Lawrence en verkeerde in kringen rond de Bloomsbury-groep. Mansfield trouwde, maar bleef verhoudingen met zowel mannen als vrouwen hebben. Na de dood van haar broer in 1915 schreef ze een serie verhalen met Nieuw-Zeeland als achtergrond, die tegenwoordig tot haar beste werk worden gerekend: Het tuinfeest en andere verhalen (1922). Katherine Mansfield overleed op 34-jarige leeftijd in Frankrijk aan tuberculose. Zij geldt als een van de belangrijkste Engelstalige schrijvers van korte verhalen uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw.

"So, once again, I was on the hunt for an effective and pleasant dishwashing product. The task became more challenging because it needed to not only clean well but also smell nice, and ideally, create a cozy atmosphere in the kitchen. In the end, I decided to try Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day. According to the manufacturer’s claims, this product is completely safe not only for health but also for the environment, as it is biodegradable, along with the packaging components. The packaging itself doesn’t say much—it’s the usual 16 ounces, though it’s sold in a pack of three bottles. The product is marketed as suitable for people who prefer natural products because it doesn’t contain harsh chemicals. I can honestly say that the product met all my expectations. The first thing you notice when you open the bottle is the amazing scent that literally fills your kitchen with the freshness and fragrance of Verbena. Since we wash dishes with hot water, it’s not just a scent, but a real aromatherapy experience during dishwashing. As for its effectiveness, this dish soap works great, dealing with grease, food remnants, and even burnt pans. Additionally, it foams up well, so there’s no need to use a lot of it. Now I actually enjoy washing dishes! The only downside is that the product does run out fairly quickly, especially when you have a large family and a lot of dishes. Of course, this isn’t really a flaw of the product itself, but considering it isn’t very cheap, I would have liked it to last longer or for the price to be a bit lower. Anyway, I’m completely satisfied. Mrs. Meyer’s has become my reliable kitchen helper, without harming the environment."
