It has a beautiful warmth to the wood, with color of light reddish brown. The grain on this piece is long and straight, slightly inclined to the long axis. Slippery Elm Block SE145 2.7" x 2.8" x 13.7" 2.5 lbs. This is a nice end-grain block of Slippery Elm (aka Red Elm). It has a beautiful warmth to the wood, with color of light reddish-brown. The grain on this piece is long and straight, slightly inclined to the long axis. There are lots of small knots that add character to this piece. It's been air-dried to a moisture content of 10-12%. This piece is discounted! It's got slightly irregular dimensions, with a wane face and edge that make it slightly narrower at one end than the other. There are some pith-associated cracks along one edge you may want to treat with CA glue. If turning, these will turn off as you bring the block to round. We've discounted this piece a bit because of the extra features. |
