Compatibility & Fitment
This water inlet valve is a primary component for many 24-inch built-in dishwashers manufactured by Electrolux. Key compatible models include:
- Frigidaire: FDB1050REB4, DGBD2432KB1, FDB1100RHC0, FDB435RBT2, PLD2855RFC1.
- Maytag: MDB124BFR2, MDB124BFW2.
- Kenmore / Sears: Fits 587-series models (e.g., 587.14002990, 587.15112K90).
- Crosley, Gibson, & Tappan: Compatible with select units utilizing the 154 series fill valves.
When to Replace
- No Water in Tub: The cycle begins and the timer advances, but the machine fails to fill with water, often accompanied by a humming sound.
- Overflowing / Leaking: Water continues to enter the dishwasher when the power is off or the cycle is paused, indicating the valve is stuck open.
- "Long Fill" Errors: The machine times out and stops because it cannot reach the required water level within the programmed window.
- Noisy Operation: A loud buzzing or vibrating sound during the fill portion of the cycle, suggesting a failing solenoid coil.
- Poor Wash Performance: Low water levels lead to inadequate spray pressure, leaving dishes dirty or covered in soap film.
Installation Tips
- Safety First: Shut off the water supply valve and disconnect the electrical power (unplug or flip the breaker) before starting the repair.
- Accessing the Part: The valve is located behind the lower kickplate. You may need to remove the two screws holding the toe kick in place.
- Fitting Transfer: If your supply line uses a 90-degree brass elbow, unscrew it from the old valve and reinstall it on the new one using thread seal tape (PTFE) on the brass-to-brass threads only.
- Wiring: The two wires on the solenoid can be connected to either terminal. Ensure they are pushed firmly onto the spade connectors.
- Final Check: Before replacing the kickplate, turn the water on and run a short test cycle to verify there are no leaks at the connection points.
